Spend time to relax, reflect, refresh, get artsy, and have fun expressing yourself while painting in a lovely garden of flowers!

Beginners+
All materials will be provided, watercolor paints, brushes, and a journal. These will be student grade, so please feel free to bring your own favorite art supplies.
Members $40
Non Members $50
Additional Materials Fee: $10 paid directly to the instructor at beginning of class
Purchase a membership for member discounts.
*We will meet at one of Cadillac’s local gardens TBD. This class is outdoors, please dress appropriately. (Sunscreen, bug spray, hat, camp chair and water.)
In case of rain we will be at Up North Arts.

Minimum Enrollment: 3 (Maximum Enrollment: 10). If Minimum is not met, class will be cancelled or rescheduled.

Description:  

Capture the joy of watercolor while painting outdoors in one of Cadillac’s beautiful local gardens! Learn basic watercolor and sketching techniques for painting garden flowers: color mixing, backgrounds, negative painting, and leaf variations. Create 3-4 watercolor paintings along with journaling notes. Leave with a colorful watercolor journal filled with flowers and resources for further exploration. All skills levels are welcome. Spend time to relax, reflect, refresh, get artsy, and have fun expressing yourself while painting in a lovely garden of flowers!

 

Materials Needed:

$10 materials fee paid to instructor at beginning of class.

Please dress appropriately for outdoors.

Bring sunscreen, bug spray, hat, snack, camp chair and water.

The teacher will supply everything needed else for your use, but please feel free to bring any of your favorite supplies. You will take home a watercolor journal and resources for further exploration.

Meet Your Teacher:  Julie Raabe Gentry

 

Julie is an avid watercolor journalist whose passion is spreading the joy of nature through watercolor. She is a certified Nature Journaling Educator through the Wild Wonder Foundation and has created watercolor Nature Guides for the Cadillac Area Land Conservancy. She is an accomplished artist in many artistic disciplines and studies through various workshops and mentors, including Megan Swoyer, and John Muir Laws. She is a former university Dance Education faculty member and Artist-in-Residence for Young Audiences. Julie’s classes engage students in curiosity, letting go of perfectionism, and developing individual self-expression to create watercolor paintings that flow and dance.
