Monet, Mitchell & Me: A Painter's Pilgrimage (2023), chronicles her journey to France to resolve a creative block.

Session Highlights

The Inspiration: The journey began in October 2022, when Ellie traveled to Paris to see a dual exhibition of Claude Monet and Joan Mitchell.

The Pilgrimage: She and her husband, Roo Davison, followed the River Seine to towns like Giverny, Vétheuil, and Honfleur—locations where these "Art World Giants" lived and worked.

The Creative Process: The session explores the "inner life of a forever-emerging artist" and how this pilgrimage helped her navigate a significant creative standstill.

Class Name: Cozy Heart Mug Rug

Description:
This beginner-friendly mug rug class is a fun and relaxed introduction to punch needle rug hooking. The class lasts two hours and includes step-by-step guidance, with plenty of time for questions and hands-on practice. You will learn the basics of using the punch needle while making a beautiful heart mug rug. All tools and supplies will be provided for use during class if you do not already have your own tools. For those interested, there will be an option to purchase these tools at the end of class. Also included with the class is the heart mug rug kit (monk cloth with a pre-drawn pattern and rug-weight yarn). By the end of the class, you’ll have your own handmade heart mug rug to take home and enjoy.

The class begins with a dynamic warm-up to prepare the muscles and joints, followed by technique drills that refine hip articulations, shoulder shimmies, and undulations. Emphasis is placed on posture, alignment, and connecting movement with breath and rhythm. This class encourages self-expression, confidence, and the joy of movement while deepening participants’ connection to the art of belly dance.
