WATERCOLOR JOURNALING IN NATURE

TIME: 9:30 am – 12:30 pm (3 hour class)

Enjoy summer through watercolor! We will meet* at Cadillac’s beautiful Sound Garden to learn watercolor basics, while sketching and painting in a journal. Create 3-4 paintings along with journaling notes. In journaling anything goes! You will be guided through a fun, easy, relaxing process to explore and express yourself while capturing nature’s stunning colors you enjoy in summer!

*We will meet at Cadillac’s “Sound Garden”, at 398 Chestnut Street. This class is outdoors, please dress appropriately! (sunscreen, bug spray, hat, camp chair and water.) In case of rain we will be at UNA, 601 Chestnut.

Students will need to bring to class:

140# Cold Press watercolor journal or watercolor paper, see links below. All other materials, watercolor paints and brushes will be provided. These are student grade, so please feel free to bring your own.

About Julie Raabe Gentry

Julie is an avid nature watercolor journalist whose passion is to pass along her love for nature through journaling. She draws upon the simplicity and wonder of nature to guide her students to find “perfection and beauty in imperfection” throughout nature. Julie has taken many classes through the Wild Wonder Foundation for nature journaling, including the Nature Journaling Educator’s Workshop. Her education comes from many mentors and workshops throughout Michigan and Tennessee, including Megan Swoyer, Mary Lou Peters, Cedar Kindy, A. Jann Peitso, Philip Hartigan and Art Toolkit. She is a former Dance Educator with a MA in Dance and the Related Arts and MEd in Early Childhood Education. Her goal is to guide students to creating watercolors that flow and dance.
