WHERE: Up North Arts, 601 Chestnut Street, Cadillac, Michigan (across from the high school football field)
COST: $25 includes breakfast treats, lunch, and admission to the Northern Lites Readers Theatre’s performance.

Northern Lites Readers Theatre in Cadillac, Michigan, is excited to host this voice workshop, made possible by a grant from the Community Theatre Association of Michigan (CTAM) as part of their “On the Road” series

WORKSHOP AGENDA
9:30-10:00 - Meet and Greet with breakfast treats
10:00-12:00-
- Using voice to communicate meaning through volume, pitch, tone, speed, and clarity
- Using imagination to inform artistic choices through the use of voice
- Using observation, listening and responding
- Warming up and exercising the voice
12:00-1:00 –
Lunch with time to socialize and, if you choose, a walk along the shore of Lake Cadillac on the paved Keith McKellop Walkway
1:00-3:00 –
Monologues – present your 2-4 minute prepared monologue to the group and Kirk will offer a helpful critique
Time on your own to visit downtown Cadillac or go out to dinner with new friends
7:00 pm (optional)
Attend the Northern Lites Readers Theatre evening performance of ‘Four Winners’ (free admission with your workshop registration). The performance is in the same location as the workshop.
ABOUT THE PRESENTER — KIRK M. WAHAMAKI
Kirk recently retired as the Artistic Director for Muskegon Civic Theatre after 18 years, and has worked in working theatre for over 40 years. Kirk has worked with Grand Rapids Civic Theatre, The Dogwood Center, St. Mary-of-the-Woods College, Lincoln Trail College, Community Theater of Terre Haute, Topeka Civic Theatre, Racine Theatre Guild, and Indiana State University.
His most recent directorial credits include: Ragtime, Return to the Forbidden Planet, Old Heart, and Always…Patsy Cline. A theatre generalist, Kirk has also worked extensively in scenic, lighting, and sound design, and directed a film, Old Heart, which is now premiering around the country. In addition to his technical work, Kirk has performed in many shows.
Kirk and his wife Sheila (who is also retired from teaching theater at Muskegon Community College) live in Muskegon.
